Running for over 20 years, our kids club caters for local groms from beginners to intermediate and advanced. We base our sessions on the Surfing England Grom Scheme and work through the levels in the log books. GROM SQUAD has 5 levels, each named after iconic surf breaks. It doesn’t matter if you just cruise through level 1, or want to shred it to level 5. It’s all about having fun and being part of the squad.
To join JSA, all you need to do is register with Big Blue Surf School. Once you’re signed up, you’re good to book a session. Just get in touch and we’ll get you sorted in no time.
Our JSA sessions run every Saturday around the tide times, mainly at 09:00 - 11:00 or 14:00 - 16:00.
We organise our sessions into two groups to make sure everyone progresses at their own pace. Each group has an Outback Coach or an Inside Coach, and their own goals to work on each session.
All specialist equipment is provided if required.
We meet at Summerleaze Beach car park by our trailers, by the entrance to the beach (EX23 8HJ).

Surfing England is the National Governing Body for surfing in the country, and Big Blue Surf School is proud to hold their accreditation for delivering high-quality surf lessons. Every member of our instructional team is both a qualified surf coach and a trained beach lifeguard, ensuring safe, professional, and enjoyable sessions for all.

Hannah, our head coach and team photographer/videographer. She just got back from a winter spent managing a surf school in Whangamata, New Zealand and is stoked to be back in less sharky waters for the summer.
She recently discovered a love for riding twin fins and you can usually find her and her JS Red Baron out at Widemouth Bay when she’s not on session!
